Peugeot PH under new management, to open 7 new dealers

Peugeot has just been relaunched in the country, and it’s looking to expand its market reach in the Philippines.

As of today, Peugeot Philippines is under new management. It was sold by Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC) to Astara (formerly Berge Auto of Spain), one of the leading automobile distributors in Europe and Latin America.

Leading Peugeot Philippines will be the new managing director, Raoul Picello. The company plans to expand not only its model lineup but also increase the number of Peugeot dealerships in the country. Currently, the automaker only has seven locations; Peugeot Pasig, Peugeot Quezon Ave, Peugeot Alabang, Peugeot Iloilo, Peugeot Cebu, Peugeot Davao, and Peugeot Pampanga.

According to Picello, they are looking at opening 7 more dealerships in the country, as well as working with new partners. Moreover, Peugeot also announced its digital transformation in order to capitalize on its market expansion in the country. They plan to start this by Q2 of 2022. In addition, there will be a new lineup of vehicles which will be headlined by the all-new 5008.

As mentioned earlier, Peugeot used to be under CAC of Palawan Governor Jose ‘Pepito’ Alvarez. Not only did it have the French automaker, but CAC also used to be the official distributor of Kia and BMW in the country. However, CAC has since sold BMW to Ramon Ang’s SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation, and Kia to AC Industrials of Ayala Corporation.
